Conceptualising internationalisation in Estonian music sector and policy making

“Conceptualising internationalisation in Estonian music sector and policy making” is a research project focusing on internationalisation as an important topic in the careers of music professionals – creative individuals, collectives, and organisations – and as a social phenomenon. The project examines how music professionals and policymakers interpret and practice internationalisation in the Estonian music field and what kinds of mindsets can be associated with their practices and interpretations. Based on interviews and analysis of policy documents, the project will create the most comprehensive qualitative analysis of the topic of internationalisation in Estonia, which will provide useful input for both actors in the field, policymakers, and educators.

The title in Estonian: „Mõtestades rahvusvahelistumist Eesti muusikavaldkonnas ja poliitikas“ (KUM-TA82). Funded by the Ministry of Culture of Estonia.

The project is conducted by the Tartu University Viljandi Cultural Academy. The project and research lead is Kristina Kuznetsova-Bogdanovitš and my role is a researcher, focusing especially on the policymaking aspect. We will produce one or two draft papers as well as a final report (in Estonian) by the end of 2025.
