We frequently describe the music sector as fragmented. It’s a claim made in frustration when the otherwise celebrated diversity of views becomes inconvenient to our joint efforts to speak to politicians and policy makers in “one voice”. I argue that we have institutionalised this fragmentation by building interest representation organisations around diverse narratives of how the music world operates.
